Bionics, Cybernetics, Psychosis
Bionics and Cybernetics
There are two types of augments. Bionics and Cybernetics. Bionics are organic augmentations to the body, an example of such are grafting scales and gills to the body. Cybernetics are artificial augmentations that are implanted onto the body. These include eye augments and limb enhancements, in which it replaces the specified body part. People with bionics are most often mistaken for demi-humans, and such they take several bionic augments to be recognized as an augmented and not a demi-human. Vatians can tell at a glance on who is a bionic augmented and a demi-human.
A humanoid with both augments are called Augment Freaks.
Biopsychosis and Cyberpsychosis
There's a limit to how much augments the humanoid body can take. Going over your limits subjects you to Biopsychosis or Cyberpsychosis, depending on the augments you took. A general term for psychosis on a humanoid with both augments is Augment Psychosis. Psychosis is stalled by a liquid substance known as Exodin. It cannot cure, but only halt or stall the progression of psychosis. It's unknown what Exodin contains, but one thing for sure is that it's a miracle sent from heaven.
The path to Psychosis
Psychosis is a mental illness that can be cured with enough therapy sessions, so long as it doesn't reach the later stages of psychosis. Cyberpsychosis is defined by the detachment and distance from one's humanity and identifying oneself as a machine more than humanoid. While Biopsychosis falls into the primal urges that one's bionics enable.
Cyberpsychosis symptoms are gradual, ranging from poor and impulsive acts, distancing from loved ones, and decay of self-preservation. Eventually they neglect their basic human needs (eating, sleeping). Then it melds into violence.
Biopsychosis symptoms are slow. It's akin to rabies where the violence symptom is the point of no return, but it can be intervened by a exodin shot. Symptoms include drooling, aggression, delusions and mania.
